March 11, 2015 (Golden, CO)—HomeAdvisor has been named Community Partner of the Year by Children’s Hospital Colorado Blood Donor Center. Children’s Hospital Colorado presented the award at its Donor Appreciation Dinner on March 7. The hospital awarded HomeAdvisor this honor for the company’s participation in the 2014 Color Run, a unique 5K race that donates proceeds to Children’s Hospital Colorado. HomeAdvisor also donated 18.5 gallons of blood at several blood mobile drives hosted on the company’s campus. Over the course of 2014, employees contributed 151 one pint blood donations, with each donation helping up to five children.
“We are thrilled to win this award which honors the employees who contributed their time and effort to give back to the Denver community,” said HomeAdvisor’s HR Program Manager Bud Bartholomew. “Children’s Hospital is one of the many organizations we are proud to support and look forward to working with in 2015.”
In 2014, HomeAdvisor employees spent over 1,300 hours giving back to organizations in the community including Children’s Hospital Colorado, Food Bank of the Rockies, Ronald McDonald House, Julia Temple Senior Care, The Haven House and Pleasant View Elementary. Additionally, HomeAdvisor partnered with Junior Achievement and helped with events including Finance Park, a program where students learn to make reality-based personal and financial decisions, and two Junior Achievement-In-A-Day workshops where employees taught financial lessons to students. Most notably, employees contributed to Bowl-A-Thon which raised over $5,000 for programs focused on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and work readiness among K-12 students.
“Giving back to the community is an important part of HomeAdvisor’s culture,” explained Shannon Garcia-Lewis, HomeAdvisor’s Vice President of Human Resources. “We take great pride in fostering an environment conducive to healthy and philanthropic lifestyles for our employees.”
